International Workshop on 2D Materials and Quantum Effect Devices

The International Workshop on 2D Materials and Quantum Effect Devices was held at PIEAS lyceum from July 19-21, 2022. The objective of the workshop was to provide an interactive platform where young researchers and students can discuss the key aspects in growth & characterization of 2D materials and Quantum effect devices with the leaders in the subject. In addition, the applied aspects related to theory and simulation of 2D materials and Quantum effect devices were also the key components of the workshop. The participants from both academia and industry attended the workshop.

Dr. Masood Iqbal, Member Science PAEC was the chief guest for the opening ceremony. Dr. Nasir Majid Mirza, Rector PIEAS, Dr. Naseem Irfan, Pro-Rector PIEAS, and senior faculty members of PIEAS were also present on this occasion. Dr. Aftab Rafiq, Head Department of Physics and Applied Mathematics welcomed the chief guest, international speakers, and participants of the course. He also briefed the audience about the objectives of workshop. Rector PIEAS in his address apprised the audience about the research culture of PIEAS, and its commitment towards promoting research in emerging areas of science and technology. The chief guest admired the role of PIEAS and organizers in arranging the workshop. He emphasized the importance of 2D materials and quantum effect devices and how it is changing the landscape due to their promising physical, electrical, chemical, and optical properties. He also conveyed his high hopes that this workshop will be fruitful for the participants, organizers and speakers. Rector PIEAS presented the shield to the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig, Chairman PSF was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Speaking with the organizers are participants he appreciated the timeliness and depth of topics covered in this workshop. He also congratulated the workshop organizers. In the end chief guest distributed certificates among the participants and speakers. Rector PIEAS also presented the shield to the chief guest.
